Our parents, Mark & Sandy, started this family tradition back in 1974. After tearing down his father’s garage and erecting it down beside his father-in-laws machinery shed - he started his new hobby. Who would have thought it would become a family tradition.

Our Story

Mark & Sandy started with 25 buckets, a snowmobile & trailer for transporting sap, 50 gallon barrel as a make shift evaporator. At first they sold their sap to another local sugar maker and the following year he went to a farmer’s auction and purchased 100 sap buckets & lids, which he hung on the maple trees adorning the sugar shack.

In 1977, just two years later, he built the first sugarhouse on property purchased just down the road from their house. Upgraded to a small wood burning evaporator and finishing pan, 200 buckets collected by a tractor & trailer, which we still use to this day. Eventually over the years we upgraded and presently have a new building housing a steam-away system with 1800 taps.
